The Red Sea – Egypt CCR Rebreather Live a Board adventure trip is a two week long charter boat exclusively chartered by ProTec Dive Center & Advanced Training Facility to offer superb Rebreather diving in the Red Sea. The adventure expedition trip is planned for June of 2010.

The planned trip duration is 13 days with 11-12 diving days with one week of south reef diving and one week of north wreck diving. Departure port is Hurghada or Galeb.

Note – The itineraries can change slightly according to weather conditions and are designed for experienced underwater divers.

1 week south Safari

After a few trial diving expeditions around Hurghada or Galeb area to help acclimatize, our cruiser heads out south and the seven hour journey to The Brother Islands. Since there is no sheltered place to drop anchor safe from the sea and the wind, the cruiser can only remain in the island’s vicinity for as long as weather conditions allow and every opportunity has to be taken to make as many underwater expeditions as possible.

The Brothers provide the very best that any diver could possibly desire to see; hammer sharks, albimarginatus and moon fish, not to mention two amazing wrecks, the Namibia and the Aida II, that floundered on the reef of the bigger island. The wrecks are completely covered by enormous Alyconariae and provide a unique underwater sight. The one-week south cruise ends with the reefs close to the coast of El Quseir, returning up the coast towards Safaga and Hurghada.

The itinerary is to include Daedalus, where an old light house is still to be seen jutting up from a circular shaped reef rapidly disappearing into the blue. The diving expeditions in this area are characterized by the presence of giant, deep-sea fish species. The cruise continues to Zabargad and Rocky Island: unspoilt seabeds molded by the vivid art of nature and enlivened by sharks and deep-sea fish create a world that contrasts starkly with the harsh fascination of the land above. This enthralling island, wrapped in its history of topaz mining, breathes excitement.

1 week north Safari

Planned during the one week north Safari are the Giftun islands, Gubal islands, Sha’ab Ali with the legendary Thistlegorm wreck, and Abu Nuhas with the wrecks of the Carnatic, Ghianis D. and others. The awesome Ras Mohamed will be visited as well. We will try to reach the wreck of the Rosalie Mulla as well.

The all inclusive diving package of $ 4875.00 usd per person based on double occupancy does include:

• 13 nights/13 days on board – full board
• Unlimited dives, b/o tanks, weights, belts and dive guides
• Mineral water, tea, coffee and soft drinks
• Visa and English speaking assistance at arrival airport
• Transfer from airport to boat and hotel
• Last night hotel with double occupancy
• Two 18kg buckets of Sofnolime 797 Co2 absorbent per pax
• Unlimited Air & Oxygen boosted to 200 bar / 3000 psi

On arrival day we will embark from 17.00 pm, departure the day after. Last day return at 14.00 pm.

Full name, nationality and passport number are request minimum one week before departure

This itinerary is allowed only to certified CCR Rebreather divers, holding an CCR Rebreather Mod 1 certificate or higher for the Rebreather dived during the adventure trip and having at least  50 logged CCR dives in the Log book.

Important: night dive is forbidden in the Marine park

What is not included in the package price:

Airfare from either the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia to Hurghada or Marsa Alam, Egypt. The estimated cost for a return charter flight from the American continent to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, London is $ 1000.00 usd. The estimated airfare from Europe either Amsterdam, London, Paris, Frankfurt or Munich to Hurgada is $ 600.00 usd return trip.

Helium is available at cost to certified Mod 2 or 3 divers at a cost of $ 280 usd per 50 ltr. tank but must be ordered ahead of time. A competent Trimix blender is on board with fill whips and booster pump.

Rebreather inboard tanks are not included and only a limited selection can be rented. Please inquire ahead of time.

• Crew tips (we advise $ 60.00 usd per person)  

Limited training such as Mod 2 and CCR Wreck is available during the trip. Please inquire and book ahead.

Rules of engagement

Departure harbor and/or arrival harbor can change. Any change will not modify the itinerary. Any additional expense on transfers will be held by the Organizer.

The Organizer keeps the right to change the vessel, respecting its standard and the itinerary.

Reservation and payment: To reserve a spot and seat for this Adventure Safari we need to receive full payment and please remember there is only a limited amount of seats available. Early booking is key to go. Please contact us for information.

Cancelation: If you need to cancel you will not get your money back but you can sell your seat to a third person, as well we will try to sell your seat to a third person in order to recover your money. This Adventure Safari is a custom dive trip with financial commitments made ahead of time.

Guarantee of Adventure Safari: If the case of or the unlikely event of technical issues with the boat we will organize a replacement boat to the same standards or higher in order to continue the trip.

What to do if the diving is done

The ProTec team is planning a one week long expeditionary trip into the Lybian Sahara desert to visit the battle fields of El Alamein where German and British forces clashed during WW II as well as the Siwa Oasis located in the Lybian Sahara desert. If you want to join please email us. All locations are within Egyptian borders and we intent to take a Egyptian guide with us.

The Luxor area with the splendid temples and the Valley of Kings as well as a Dow ride on the Nile river are certainly worthwhile your time as well.
